Job Description

United Credit Union Role:
To preserve the credit union's assets by controlling delinquent loan accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments and/or recovering collateral.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Contacts delinquent accounts by phone and mail; takes appropriate action to bring current. Analyzes financial situation of delinquent borrowers; makes recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful. Be able to work on monthly charge off shares and/or loans as needed. Understand the process and complete the monthly reports. Taking direction from Lead or Loan Manager on these tasks. Prepare right-to-cure as needed. run and work delinquent notices daily. Run and work on 1st Payment Skips report, UCU Cash Loan Advances, and update those due dates as needed. Notify Lead of any conversation of repossession and/or bankruptcy. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Performance Measurements:
To ensure timely contact of members with delinquent loans to inquire about repayment intent. To maintain accurate and complete records of all collection and recovery activity. To adhere to provisions as set forth in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and insure collection activity is always within credit union policy and all relevant regulations. To enter a concise, professional memo in the collection notes of each contact or contact attempt. To provide informed, professional assistance and support to all members and associates, to troubleshoot and resolve inquiries in a timely, friendly and accurate manner. To maintain delinquency at or below Board of Directors approved annual goals. To maintain a dependable record of attendance and timeliness.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience:
Two to three years prior collection experience desired, but will train on the job.
Education:
A high school education or GED.
Interpersonal Skills:
Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for
