Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Collection Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing past due accounts, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts, and maintaining positive relationships with our members. This role requires strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of financial concepts to effectively resolve payment issues and reduce delinquency. Duties Process all correspondence for collections department, ensuring accuracy of work. Create form letters, type labels, and provide general administrative support. Analyze accounts to identify next steps (i.e. account types, amount owed, credit score, collateral value, etc.) and make recommendations for legal action. Maintain collection files according to department procedures. Input data into the credit union's collection system, and generate reports as requested. Respond to telephone calls regarding payment notices and delinquent accounts. Make outbound telephone calls regarding payment notices and delinquent accounts. Provide members with a complete explanation of the loan's status as requested. Process payments by phone as needed. Maintain a detailed written record of all communications made regarding the delinquency. Prepare information needed or required by collection agency, and transmit promptly Correspond with attorneys regarding accounts that have been sent out for legal assistance. Monitor and utilize text, email, written, and verbal communication professionally and courteously
