Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Dental Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical billing and coding, with expertise in dental-specific procedures and insurance processes. As a Dental Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for managing billing operations, ensuring accurate claim submissions, and optimizing revenue cycle management. Your role is vital in maintaining smooth financial workflows and delivering exceptional support to both patients and providers. Duties Prepare and submit dental insurance claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes. Review patient records and medical documentation to ensure accurate coding of procedures and diagnoses. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective communication with insurance companies and patients. Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and documentation standards. Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to input data, track billing status, and generate reports. Collaborate with clinical staff to verify coding accuracy and resolve billing discrepancies promptly. Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines, insurance policies, and billing regulations to ensure ongoing compliance. Support medical collection efforts by contacting patients regarding outstanding balances while providing professional customer service. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing with a focus on dental or healthcare settings. Strong knowledge of dental-specific coding systems including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG, and ICD coding conventions. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and billing procedures. Experience working with EMR or EHR systems for billing and documentation purposes. Excellent understanding of insurance claim processes, denials management, and medical collections. Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately for proper coding. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all billing activities. Effective communication skills for liaising with insurance providers, patients, and clinical staff.
