Position Summary:
The Billing Lead
  • Process Excellence is responsible for how work flows through Billing .
You analyze, redesign and standardize Billing workflows so that as many claims as possible follow a clear "happy flow" with minimal handoffs, rework and surprises. You map end‑to‑end Billing processes, define queue/hold logic, and run continuous improvement efforts together with the Billing Managers, other Leads and the Support & Transformation team's analyst, academy and connectivity resources .

In this role you will: Map and redesign end‑to‑end Billing processes Analyze the full Billing journey
  • from data intake/PCR through to claim submission and key post‑bill work
  • to identify bottlenecks, waste and unclear handoffs.
Design and maintain standard workflows that make it clear who does what, when and with which inputs. Define and monitor "happy flow" vs exceptions Work with Billing Managers and the Senior Billing Manager to define what a standard, "happy flow" looks like for key Billing scenarios. Identify and track common exception paths ("unhappy flows") and prioritize fixes where they cause delays, rework or errors. Own queue and hold logic Define and keep current the rules for holds (deductible, signatures, auto, etc.), including who can hold, why, and for how long. Work with managers and the Performance & Technology Lead to ensure holds and queues are visible, controlled and worked on time. Run continuous improvement cycles Lead small, practical improvement efforts focused on specific pain points in Billing. Measure impact together with Billing Managers and the Support & Transformation analysts (e.g. fewer touches, reduced backlog, shorter cycle time). Connect process design to tools and training Work closely with the Performance & Technology Lead so process changes are reflected in tools, views and routing. Work with the Training & Quality Lead and the academy resources in the Support & Transformation team to ensure new processes are documented and used in training and coaching.
Qualifications:
Bring Billing and process improvement experience Typically 5+ years in Ambulance Billing/RCM or related Revenue Cycle roles. Have worked in a process improvement, business analyst or operational excellence capacity. Think in flows and structures You naturally think "what is the end‑to‑end flow?" and "where are we adding no value?". You like drawing processes, testing improvements and then checking if they really helped. Are analytical and pragmatic You're comfortable using data and simple KPIs to see where problems are, without getting lost in theory. You prefer small, practical changes that teams can adopt over big designs that never land. Enjoy collaboration across teams You like working with managers, other Leads and the Support & Transformation team to design realistic processes that work in the real world. You can explain process changes in a clear, down‑to‑earth way that makes sense to billers and supervisors.
