Overview Join our dynamic dermatology practice as a Billing Specialist and become a vital part of delivering exceptional patient care through accurate and efficient medical billing processes. In this energetic role, you will manage the entire billing cycle, ensuring claims are correctly coded, submitted promptly, and follow-up is diligently performed to maximize reimbursements. Your expertise will help streamline financial operations, support patient satisfaction, and uphold the highest standards of medical billing integrity. Duties Review and accurately code dermatology procedures using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems to ensure precise claim submissions. Prepare and submit claims electronically through EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems, adhering to insurance guidelines and deadlines. Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims by contacting insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies or obtain additional information. Manage medical records and documentation to support billing processes, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and maintaining detailed records of all transactions. Collaborate with clinical staff to verify patient information, insurance details, and ensure all necessary documentation is complete for accurate billing. Perform medical collections by contacting patients regarding outstanding balances while maintaining professionalism and sensitivity. Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing regulations to ensure ongoing compliance. Skills Strong knowledge of
DRG, CPT
coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and medical terminology essential for accurate claim processing. Experience with medical billing procedures within dermatology or similar specialties preferred. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for claim submission, record keeping, and data management. Familiarity with medical office operations including insurance verification, patient records management, and billing workflows. Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills to handle multiple claims efficiently. Ability to communicate effectively with insurance providers, patients, and team members to resolve billing issues promptly. Knowledge of medical collection processes and best practices for maintaining positive patient relationships.
