We're looking for someone to join our team as a Billing Manager who: The Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading a team to meet specific operational objectives within the Billing department or project. This role involves managing day-to-day activities, ensuring the efficient use of resources, and maintaining high performance standards. The Manager will work closely with both senior leadership and team members to drive team performance, ensure process compliance, and contribute to achieving company goals. Under the direction of the Director of Revenue Cycle Management, the Billing Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and performance of the billing department, including billing, collections, payment posting, credit management, and revenue integrity. This role ensures optimization of revenue cycle operations, drives process improvements, and maintains compliance with all regulatory and payer requirements.Essential Functions:
Provide leadership and strategic oversight of all billing operations to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant billing and collections. Develop and execute departmental strategies to improve cash flow, reduce AR days, minimize denials and bad debt, and enhance overall revenue cycle performance. Oversee month-end close processes , reporting, and key performance metrics for billing operations. Lead, mentor, and manage billing staff, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary actions. Establish and monitor KPIs and productivity benchmarks , ensuring accountability across the team. Drive continuous process improvement initiatives , including workflow optimization and automation within Epic/work queues. Oversee work queue management, ensuring appropriate prioritization and staffing alignment. Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Clinical, Front Office, and Finance to ensure seamless revenue cycle workflows. Lead training initiatives for billing staff and provide guidance to operational teams on billing-related processes. Oversee system configuration and maintenance within the practice management system, including providers, contracts, fee schedules, and encounter rates. Monitor payer trends, reimbursement changes, and regulatory updates; implement necessary process and policy changes. Review and approve adjustments, write-offs, refunds , and ensure compliance with internal controls. Oversee monthly hospital and specialty reimbursement reconciliations . Support audits (internal and external) and ensure readiness for regulatory reviews. Maintain expertise inCPT, ICD-10, HCPCS
, and payer guidelines. Ensure consistent communication and responsiveness across teams. Lead employee evaluations, professional development, and succession planning within the department. Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational and departmental goals. You'll be successful with the following qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum 5+ years of revenue cycle/billing experience , with 2+ years in a leadership role . Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and payer requirements. Experience with Epic or similar practice management systems is strongly preferred. Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret financial and operational data. Proven leadership and team management skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
