Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Dental Billing Specialist to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical billing and coding expertise, particularly in dental insurance claims processing. As a Dental Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for managing billing procedures, ensuring accurate claim submissions, and facilitating effective communication with insurance providers and patients to optimize revenue flow. Duties Prepare and submit dental insurance claims using appropriate coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications. Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness for billing purposes. Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to procedures. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection practices. Maintain detailed records of billing activities within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure proper documentation of procedures and diagnoses. Stay current with updates in medical coding regulations, including ICD coding changes and advancements in medical terminology. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards during all billing processes. Experience Proven experience in medical billing within a dental or healthcare setting, with a strong understanding of medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG systems. Familiarity with dental-specific billing practices and insurance claim submission processes. Knowledge of medical office operations and experience working with EMR/EHR systems. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare compliance standards. Prior experience in medical collection efforts is preferred. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in billing procedures. Effective communication skills for coordinating with insurance companies, patients, and clinical staff.
