Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Billing Accountant and Payroll Coordinator to support payroll and billing operations for a growing organization in Oakland, California. This position is well suited for someone who can manage end-to-end payroll processing across multiple states while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. The role also contributes to billing-related activities and helps ensure employees and internal stakeholders receive dependable financial and payroll support.
Responsibilities:
  • Administer complete payroll cycles for a workforce of roughly 101 to 500 employees, ensuring all payments are processed accurately and on schedule.
  • Oversee payroll activity across multiple states, applying applicable wage, tax, and compliance requirements in each jurisdiction.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including earnings, deductions, tax information, and other pay-related changes.
  • Use ADP Workforce Now to process payroll transactions, review data for accuracy, and resolve discrepancies before final submission.
  • Coordinate with finance and internal teams on billing and payroll matters to support accurate accounting and reporting.
  • Reconcile payroll data, investigate variances, and prepare documentation needed for audits, month-end close, and management review.
  • Respond to payroll-related questions from employees and provide clear guidance on pay, deductions, and payroll timing.
  • Support ongoing process improvements within payroll and billing operations, including operational changes that affect workflows or systems.
