8:00 AM•5:00 PM Job Summary AlliedUP is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to manage end-to-end claims processing, including submission, denial follow-up, and payment posting. This role plays a key part in optimizing revenue cycle performance and ensuring timely reimbursement. The ideal candidate has strong experience with FQHC Billing, Epic EHR, insurance billing workflows, and clearinghouse systems, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare and submit manual (paper) and electronic claims for Medicare, Medicaid, PPO, HMO, and EPO plans Follow up on unpaid or denied claims; investigate and resolve issues Manage denial resolution, including appeals and corrections Post payments accurately in Epic and reconcile accounts Handle self-pay accounts, including follow-up and payment arrangements Manage and respond to billing inquiries from patients, payers, and internal teams Use Trizetto clearinghouse to track claim status and resolve submission issues Maintain knowledge of insurance guidelines, billing regulations, and coding practices Monitor trends in claims and identify opportunities for process improvement Required Qualifications 2+ years of healthcare billing and claims processing experience Experience processing manual (paper) claims required FQHC billing experience required Experience with billing MediCal and MediCal Managed Care plans Strong understanding of PPO, HMO, EPO, Medicare, and Medicaid plans Experience with Epic EHR billing modules Knowledge of denial management and revenue cycle workflows Experience using clearinghouses (Trizetto preferred) Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to adapt quickly and manage changing processes Preferred Qualifications Medical Billing/Coding certification (CPC or similar) Why AlliedUP Worker-owned cooperative — your voice matters Comprehensive, competitive benefits Talent Incubator Program , including: Ongoing mentorship and career coaching Skill-building and advancement pathways Consistent part-time schedule Supportive, mission-driven team environment Apply Today Join a team focused on operational excellence and expanding access to care.
