Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Billing Specialist, where your expertise will drive the financial health of our medical practice. In this vital role, you will manage the entire billing process, ensuring accurate coding, timely claims submission, and effective collections. Your attention to detail and knowledge of medical billing procedures will directly impact our ability to provide exceptional patient care while maintaining operational efficiency. Responsibilities Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10. Review medical records and documentation to verify proper coding for diagnoses and procedures, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) assignments. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly, utilizing effective medical collection strategies to maximize reimbursements. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure correct application of medical terminology and coding guidelines. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, claim status updates, and payment histories for audit purposes. Stay current with evolving regulations related to medical coding, billing practices, and insurance policies to ensure compliance. Assist in resolving patient billing inquiries with professionalism and clear communication. Skills Strong knowledge of medical coding including
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG
classifications, and ICD coding standards. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems used for billing and record management. Excellent understanding of medical terminology and medical records management. Experience in medical office settings with familiarity in medical billing processes and procedures. Ability to interpret insurance policies and navigate complex claim submission workflows. Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and insurance companies. Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims efficiently. $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
