Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will manage the end-to-end billing process, ensuring accurate coding, timely submission of claims, and effective follow-up on unpaid accounts. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycles while maintaining compliance with industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care through precise financial management and excellent administrative support. Responsibilities Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG systems. Prepare and submit insurance claims accurately via EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, including resubmissions and appeals. Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, medical records, and correspondence with insurance providers. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and coding guidelines to prevent billing errors or fraud. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure proper coding for maximum reimbursement. Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related administrative roles within a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards. Familiarity with
ICD-9, ICD-10
diagnosis codes; CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding; DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications; and medical collection processes. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and record-keeping purposes. Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately for coding purposes. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure precise billing operations. Effective communication skills for liaising with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients.
