Overview Our client, an AM Law 200 firm has engaged us to identify a stellar Billing Manager to join their growing firm in New Orleans. This is a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact leadership role within a respected, well-established law firm where billing is viewed as a core driver of client experience and firm performance, not just a back-office function. You'll partner closely with firm leadership to shape billing strategy, optimize financial operations, and drive continuous improvement, while leading a high-performing team. The position can be based in Houston, Tampa, Raleigh, Baton Rouge, or New Orleans. If candidate does not reside in New Orleans, travel to that office will be required routinely (monthly) to engage with staff and stakeholders. The Opportunity Our client is seeking a Billing Manager to lead and elevate its billing and eBilling operations. This role oversees a team of approximately 20+ professionals and is responsible for the full lifecycle of legal billing-ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and a seamless experience for both attorneys and clients. This is a hands-on leadership role with meaningful strategic influence , ideal for someone who enjoys building strong teams while also identifying opportunities to improve processes, enhance profitability, and modernize billing operations . What You'll Do Lead & Develop a High-Performing Team Manage, coach, and mentor a team of billing and eBilling professionals Create structure, accountability, and a positive team environment Drive training, development, and long-term team success Own the Billing Lifecycle Oversee the preparation, review, and delivery of client invoices Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with client guidelines Partner with attorneys to proactively manage unbilled time and resolve issues Drive eBilling Excellence Oversee eBilling platforms, including submissions, rejections, and appeals Interpret outside counsel guidelines and translate them into actionable workflows Identify trends and implement improvements to reduce write-downs and delays Partner with Leadership Provide reporting, insights, and recommendations to firm leadership Help define and execute billing strategy , including process optimization, technology utilization, and approaches to improving realization and reducing revenue leakage Play a key role in improving workflows, efficiency, and overall billing operations Support alternative fee arrangements and evolving pricing models Optimize Operations Maintain and enhance billing policies, procedures, and training materials Collaborate on system improvements, upgrades, and workflow enhancements Ensure alignment across billing, eBilling, and broader operations What You Bring 5+ years of legal billing experience in a law firm environment 2+ years leading or managing a billing team Experience with eBilling platforms Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment Strong communication skills and confidence working with attorneys and leadership Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience What Sets This Role Apart Strategic impact: Opportunity to influence billing strategy, operational efficiency, and financial performance Leadership visibility: Direct partnership with firm leadership and attorneys Meaningful team leadership: Lead and shape a team of ~15 professionals Process ownership: Real ability to improve systems and operations-not just maintain them Strong culture & tenure: Collaborative environment where people build long-term careers
