As the company continues to grow under new leadership, we are focused on strengthening our brand presence, customer engagement, and community connection through consistent storytelling and marketing efforts. Position Overview The Rate Clerk makes sure shipping rates and charges are correct, clear, and consistent. Using simple Six Sigma ideas, this role helps reduce mistakes, improve billing accuracy, and keep the process efficient for both customers and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Check Rates Carefully Review all shipping charges before billing. Use the correct tariff, contract, and company rules every time. Help reduce errors by following the same clear steps for each shipment. Prepare Clear and Correct Invoices Create itemized invoices that are easy to review and understand. Make sure each charge matches the service provided. Support a smooth billing process with accurate and timely work. Verify Information and Fix Problems Early Check documents and charges before sending an invoice. Find differences quickly and correct them before they become bigger issues. Look for patterns in errors so the team can prevent them in the future. Keep Records Organized Enter rates on bills of lading and keep records complete and easy to find. Maintain files in a consistent way to support audits and internal reviews. Use organized records to help improve process quality and reduce repeat mistakes. Communicate Clearly with the Team and Customers Work with the Traffic Coordinator to confirm account details and solve billing questions. Coordinate with other departments to confirm services and charges. Share clear information so issues are solved quickly and correctly. Follow Standards and Keep Learning Check tariffs, filings, and contracts to confirm correct charges. Stay updated on rate changes, rules, and process improvements. Support standard work so the process is consistent and dependable. Improve the Process Fix billing errors quickly and make needed corrections. Help resolve payment questions in a professional and timely way. Suggest simple ways to reduce delays, defects, and rework. Perform other assigned duties as needed.
