Job Description

Financial Coordinator (Insurance & Collections Focus) Sakowitz Smiles Orthodontics - Orlando, FL (3 Locations)
Pay:
$22-$30/hour Quick question. Do you like when things are clean, correct, and fully accounted for or are you okay when things are "close enough"? Because this role is for the first type. Hi. I'm Dr. Scott Sakowitz. I've built Sakowitz Smiles Orthodontics from one location to three, and we are continuing to grow. We are not hiring because we are short staffed. We are hiring because we want someone to take ownership of the financial systems that keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Let's be clear about something upfront Dental insurance billing experience is required for this role. You do not need orthodontic experience specifically, but you should already be comfortable working with insurance claims, follow-ups, and reimbursement processes.
You also need to:
Be detail oriented Follow through consistently Be comfortable handling numbers and systems Communicate clearly and professionally in writing Take ownership when something does not add up Skills can be refined. Ownership and accountability cannot. What this role actually feels like You are not the person giving financial presentations in the consultation room. Our Treatment Coordinators handle that. You are the person who makes sure everything that happens after that conversation is correct, complete, and followed through.
That means:
Contracts are accurate Insurance is handled properly Accounts are clean Nothing slips through the cracks A large part of this role is written and phone communication.
You will:
Correspond with patients and insurance companies by email and phone Resolve issues and clarify financial details Follow up on outstanding claims and balances If you like closing loops and making sure things are fully handled, you will love this role. What you will own This is an ownership role, not a checklist role.
You will be responsible for:
Entering and maintaining accurate financial contracts Managing and submitting insurance claims Following up on insurance claims and advocating for proper reimbursement Monitoring and reducing accounts receivable Following up on delinquent balances for both patients and insurance Identifying discrepancies and resolving them Maintaining clean and accurate financial records Communicating professionally with patients and insurance companies via email Working with leadership on financial performance and KPIs Who thrives here People who like things to be correct People who follow through until something is fully resolved People who are organized and consistent People who are comfortable with systems and numbers People who communicate clearly in writing People who do not ignore problems Who this is not for If you: Prefer fast paced, constant patient interaction Dislike detail oriented work Let things sit instead of following up Avoid dealing with insurance or collections This will not be your place.
Experience Required:
Dental insurance billing and claims experience (minimum 1 year)
Helpful:
Orthodontic experience Accounts receivable or collections experience We will train you on our systems, but you should already be comfortable navigating insurance workflows. Compensation and Benefits $22 to $30 per hour based on experience and capability Full time consistent hours 401(k) with match Paid time off and holidays A team environment where people support each other Logistics Primarily based in Winter Garden Training and occasional coverage in Lake Nona and Dr. Phillips In person position Final thought If you like finishing what you start, keeping things organized, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks, this could be a great fit. If you are just looking for something casual or temporary, there are better options out there. If you want a role where your work directly impacts how well the practice runs, apply.
Pay:
$22.00 - $30.00 per hour
Benefits:
401(k) 401(k) matching Paid time off Application Question(s): Tell me about a time you noticed something at work that was not working well. What did you do about it? How do you feel about having direct conversations with people about money or payments? Give an example if you have one. You notice a patient's account has multiple small inconsistencies that don't quite add up. What would you do? Why does this role interest you specifically?
