Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medicaid Billing Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the accurate and timely submission of Medicaid claims, ensuring compliance with all billing regulations, and optimizing reimbursement processes. Your expertise will help streamline medical billing operations, improve revenue cycle management, and support the delivery of quality healthcare services. Responsibilities Prepare and submit Medicaid claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Review medical records and documentation (nurses notes) to verify proper coding, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes. Apply medical coding knowledge to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes for billing purposes. Monitor claim status, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and perform medical collections as needed to maximize reimbursements. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, claim submissions, adjustments, and correspondence with payers. Stay current with Medicaid policies, coding updates, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance. Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve billing discrepancies and improve overall revenue cycle efficiency. Experience Proven experience in medical billing or coding within a healthcare setting, preferably with Medicaid or government insurance programs. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and billing procedures. Familiarity with DRG classifications, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and medical collections processes. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for claim processing and documentation review. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex medical data accurately. Effective communication skills for coordinating with healthcare providers, payers, and patients.
