Accountable Revenue Cycle Solutions Position Summary Phoenix Cardiovascular Institute (PCI) is an independent interventional cardiology practice serving patients in the North Georgia and Chattanooga regions. It is our mission to provide our patients with evidence-based treatment of their cardiovascular disease in a convenient outpatient setting. The Billing and Coding Specialist is responsible for accurate coding, charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, and accounts receivable follow-up. This position ensures compliance with payer regulations, coding guidelines, and practice policies while maximizing reimbursement and maintaining accurate patient accounts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Billing and Coding Specialist will work in conjunction with a third-party billing company, Accountable Revenue Cycle Solutions, to ensure the following: Coding and Charge Entry Review provider documentation and assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes. Ensure accurate coding for outpatient cardiology services, including office visits, diagnostic testing, device monitoring, and procedures. Verify documentation supports billed services and identify opportunities for provider education. Maintain current knowledge of coding regulations, payer requirements, and reimbursement guidelines. Claims Management Prepare and submit clean claims electronically and manually as needed. Review claims for accuracy prior to submission. Monitor claim status and resolve claim rejections and denials promptly. Submit corrected claims and appeals as necessary. Accounts Receivable Management Follow up on unpaid, underpaid, and denied claims. Research payer discrepancies and work toward timely resolution. Maintain accounts receivable within established aging benchmarks. Document all collection and follow-up activities accurately. Payment Posting and Reconciliation Post insurance and patient payments accurately and timely. Reconcile payments, adjustments, and contractual write-offs. Identify and report payment variances and trends. Assist with monthly reconciliation processes. Compliance and Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, and regulatory requirements. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Participate in internal audits and quality improvement initiatives. Assist in developing and maintaining billing and coding policies and procedures . Patient Account Support Respond to patient billing inquiries professionally and accurately. Assist patients in understanding insurance benefits and financial responsibilities. Coordinate with front office and clinical staff to resolve account issues.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing and Coding, or related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years of medical billing and coding experience required. Experience in cardiology billing and coding strongly preferred. Knowledge of outpatient physician practice billing processes required. Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification preferred.
