Job Description

Full-Time | Non-Exempt Dundee Township Park District is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Billing Specialist to join our Business Services Department. This position is responsible for processing biweekly payroll, maintaining accurate payroll records, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, and managing billing for District recreational programs. Working in a mission-driven environment that serves the community Collaborating with supportive and professional colleagues Contributing to essential operations that support District employees and programs Enjoying stability and benefits associated with public-sector employment What You'll Do Payroll Processing & Administration Review, process, and balance biweekly payroll accurately and on time Import timekeeping data into payroll software Process direct deposits and prepare paychecks Maintain employee leave and time-off balances Administer payroll deductions, garnishments, and benefit withholdings Complete year-end payroll processing, including W-2s Reporting & Compliance Prepare and file monthly IMRF wage reports Prepare and file monthly and quarterly IDES unemployment reports File and pay federal and state payroll taxes Ensure compliance with payroll policies, procedures, and regulations Program Billing Maintain accurate billing and records for District recreational programs Audit, Documentation & Support Maintain organized and accurate payroll documentation Assist with internal and external payroll audits Provide support to the Business Services Department as needed Communication & Service Respond to payroll-related inquiries in a timely and professional manner Provide excellent customer service to employees and internal partners What You Bring Required Qualifications High School Diploma or Four-year college degree (or equivalent) Valid driver's license Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism Preferred Skills & Abilities Payroll or accounting-related experience Knowledge of payroll systems or ability to learn new software quickly Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure Spanish-speaking ability strongly preferred Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed In exchange for your time and talent, we offer a generous benefit package, including: Defined contribution medical insurance plan options Dental insurance plan Vision insurance plan District-paid life insurance and voluntary additional life insurance (spouse and dependent) Participation in IMRF (retirement, disability, death benefits) Vacation days, personal days, sick leave and paid holidays Sick bank leave and paid bereavement leave Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Deferred compensation retirement plan option Flexible spending accounts for unreimbursed medical and dependent care Free family memberships to our unique facilities Free/discounted District programs, merchandise, and concessions Educational assistance/tuition reimbursement/professional development Professional organizational memberships Service Awards Program Employee social activities Wellness Incentive Program Credit Union (KCT) Schedule Full-time, non-exempt position 40 hours per week Occasional weekend, holiday, or extended hours may be required Join Our Team If you are a reliable professional who values accuracy, confidentiality, and public service, we encourage you to apply.
