Responsibilities Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding systems. Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding and billing accuracy. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective communication with insurance companies and patients. Maintain detailed records of billing activities within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to billing. Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure timely payments. Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations, insurance policies, and compliance standards to ensure adherence. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related healthcare administrative roles. Strong knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, DRG classifications, and medical terminology. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for managing medical records and billing data. Ability to interpret medical records accurately for proper coding and billing purposes. Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail to prevent errors. Effective communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers. Prior experience in medical collection processes is a plus.
