Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will manage the entire billing process, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims to insurance companies and patients. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycles, improve cash flow, and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to efficient healthcare operations while utilizing your strong knowledge of medical coding and billing procedures. Responsibilities Review and verify medical records, patient information, and coding details to ensure accuracy before billing. Assign appropriate diagnosis codes using ICD-9 and ICD-10 systems, along with procedure codes via CPT coding standards. Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance providers promptly, following all payer-specific guidelines. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies and resubmit as necessary. Maintain detailed documentation within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for all billing activities. Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding regulations, and insurance policies to ensure compliance. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures that require additional coding or documentation. Qualifications Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related healthcare administrative roles in a Critical Access Hospital. Strong knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and medical terminology. Familiarity with medical office workflows, medical records management, and EMR/EHR systems. Excellent understanding of medical billing processes, including claim submission and follow-up procedures. Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately for proper coding and billing purposes. Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims efficiently. Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients. Pay:
$16.61 - $23.29 per hour
