This role is essential in supporting our project team by managing a wide range of financial, billing, and compliance responsibilities, including project setup, subcontractor compliance, accounts receivable, progress billings, and collections. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in construction accounting, be highly detail-oriented, and possess a strong understanding of compliance requirements unique to the construction industry.
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Set up approved subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders in Foundation Software and review for accuracy. Generate, review, and process monthly billings in a timely manner. Prepare and submit all lien waivers for projects, subcontractors, and material suppliers. Manage subcontractor compliance (insurance, bonds, waivers, billing accuracy, etc.). Investigate and reconcile unbilled project costs. Track and collect accounts receivable balances for assigned projects; follow up with clients to ensure timely payments. Monitor and process retainage/retention releases upon project completion. Apply and reconcile customer payments, ensuring accuracy against open invoices. Maintain detailed project files and financial records. Assist in financial and compliance aspects of project close-out. Collaborate with project managers and operations staff to verify costs, contracts, and billing schedules. Prepare weekly/monthly aging reports and provide updates to management on collections and cash flow. Support additional assignments as requested by supervisor. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or 3+ years of qualified construction accounting experience. Prior experience in the construction industry (required). Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Dependable, collaborative, and team focused. Hands-on construction accounting experience (billing, lien waivers, retainage). Strong customer service skills for effective communication with clients, vendors, and project teams.
