The Billing Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the billing and revenue cycle operations for a Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) organization. This role ensures accurate, timely billing and compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and accreditation standards (including ACHC). The Billing Manager will lead billing staff and manage workflows within Brightree to optimize reimbursement and minimize denials. Key Responsibilities Billing & Revenue Cycle Management Oversee full-cycle DMEPOS billing, including intake verification, claim submission, payment posting, and collections Ensure accurate use of HCPCS codes, modifiers, and documentation requirements Monitor accounts receivable (AR) and aging reports; implement strategies to reduce outstanding balances Track and resolve denied or rejected claims in a timely manner Ensure compliance with Medicare DME MAC guidelines and payer-specific requirements Brightree System Management Manage daily operations within Brightree Optimize system workflows, billing queues, and reporting tools Train staff on Brightree processes and updates Run and analyze reports (AR, denials, revenue trends, audit logs) Maintain system data integrity and compliance documentation Compliance & Accreditation Ensure billing practices align with ACHC, Medicare, and HIPAA regulations Maintain audit-ready documentation for claims and patient records Develop and enforce billing policies and procedures Assist with accreditation surveys and audits Monitor regulatory updates affecting DMEPOS billing Team Leadership Supervise, train, and evaluate billing staff Develop performance metrics and productivity goals Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions Address workflow inefficiencies and staff performance issues Financial Oversight Generate monthly billing and revenue reports Analyze reimbursement trends and payer performance Collaborate with leadership on financial forecasting and budgeting Identify revenue leakage and implement corrective actions Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred Minimum 3-5 years of DMEPOS billing experience Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or management role Extensive experience using Brightree Spire is willing to discuss relocation expenses with the optimal candidate if relocation is necessary.
