Medical Billing and Collections Specialist The Medical Billing and Collections Specialist is responsible for managing the full cycle of billing and accounts receivable operations, including the accurate preparation, submission, and follow-up of insurance claims, as well as the collection of outstanding balances.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, code, and submit insurance claims to private payers, Medicare, Workers' Compensation, PPOs, and HMOs Assign appropriate CPT and ICD codes based on medical record documentation Process and manage both primary and secondary insurance claims, including coordination of benefits Follow up on unpaid insurance claims and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner Perform collection activities on delinquent accounts in accordance with office policies Maintain knowledge of managed care contracts and reimbursement processes to ensure proper billing and payment Collaborate with transcription services to ensure accurate and complete documentation Assist with general administrative duties, including answering phones and supporting business office operations Perform additional duties as assigned to support the efficiency of the business office
