Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Billing Specialist, where your expertise will drive the financial health of our medical practice. Responsibilities Prepare and submit accurate claims using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding systems to insurance companies and government agencies. Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding and billing compliance. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection practices, resolving issues promptly. Enter data into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems with precision, maintaining up-to-date medical records. Communicate with insurance providers to clarify coverage details, resolve discrepancies, and expedite reimbursements. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of medical billing regulations, medical terminology, and coding updates to ensure accuracy. Assist in managing patient accounts by verifying insurance information and explaining billing procedures clearly. Experience Proven experience in medical billing or medical office administration is preferred. Strong understanding of medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG systems. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for managing medical records and billing data. Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance procedures, and healthcare regulations. Prior experience with medical collection processes and resolving billing disputes is advantageous. Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
