Job Description

In conjunction with and under the general supervision of the Director, Professional Fees, the Supervisor, Charge & Billing Edit Reconciliation (SCBER) will provide general oversight of the charge entry, and charge and billing edits reconciliation processes within the Department of Medicine Billing Office (DOMBO) to ensure the submission of clean claims. General oversight includes, but not limited to, supervision of charge entry functions and team members, ensuring appropriate staffing structure to support achievement of monthly/quarterly/yearly charge budget metrics, review and resolution of front-end billing (TES & CM edits), completion of charge corrections, developing cross-training amongst team members, identifying process improvements that optimize all front-end charge entry functions to foster submission of clean claims, and are in alignment with the Department of Medicine's (DOM) front-end key performance indicators (KPIs). The SCBER will collaborate with the Department of Medicine Billing Operations Team that includes key representatives from Coding, Revenue Operations, and Business Integrity to identify, assess, propose, develop, and implement front-end charge capture and reconciliation initiatives that support and are in alignment with the Department of Medicine's front-end KPIs and facilitate the submission of clean claims. The SCBER will have a very granular understanding of all key front-end charge capture aspects in the DOMBO and become a subject matter expert in that area. This position will collaborate with others to identify process improvements and efficiency opportunities in all areas of the revenue cycle, making recommendations to the Operations Team and/or Director. This position will be expected to effectively communicate with Faculty Practice, Incorporated (FPI) Practice Operations and Quality Assurance team members, Practice Association Leadership, Division Administrators, and/or their delegates, and all other internal and external customers. EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred College experience in related field i.e. business or healthcare etc., preferred 2-5 years of charge entry, billing edit and/or medical practice billing and/or healthcare revenue cycle experience 1-2 years of supervisory or lead experience, preferred, in any industry Certified Professional Coder (CPC), preferred. If not a CPC, a strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding guidelines is required and ability to pass a coding proficiency test. Total Rewards The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland's Faculty Physician's Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
