Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Billing Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the entire billing process, ensuring accurate coding, timely submission of claims, and effective follow-up on outstanding accounts. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycles, improve cash flow, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Responsibilities Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate
ICD-9, ICD-10
diagnosis codes, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications for billing purposes. Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly through effective communication with insurance providers and patients. Ensure compliance with all billing regulations, including accurate documentation of medical procedures and diagnoses. Maintain detailed records of all billing activities, including adjustments, payments, and collections. Collaborate with medical office staff to verify patient information and resolve billing discrepancies efficiently. Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure ongoing compliance. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical coding principles including
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
coding, and DRG classifications. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and record keeping purposes. Knowledge of medical collection processes and effective strategies for recovering outstanding payments. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously. Ability to interpret complex insurance policies and explain billing procedures clearly to patients and team members. Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred; certification in medical coding or billing is a plus.
