Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze medical documentation to ensure accurate coding and billing
• Assign appropriate medical codes using ICD-10 and/or ICD-9 coding systems
• Verify patient insurance coverage and process claims for reimbursement
• Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve billing discrepancies
• Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain missing or incomplete documentation
• Stay updated on industry regulations and changes in medical coding and billing practices

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or related field
• Proficiency in medical coding systems, including ICD-10 and/or ICD-9
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and diagnoses
• Familiarity with medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Experience with medical collections and handling insurance claims
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
