Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and patient-focused Checkout & Billing Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring a smooth patient checkout experience while accurately processing charges, collecting payments, and supporting billing operations. The ideal candidate combines excellent customer service skills with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced medical environment. Key Responsibilities Patient Checkout Greet and assist patients at the conclusion of their visit Schedule follow-up appointments as needed Provide visit summaries and patient instructions Ensure a positive and efficient checkout experience Billing & Financial Responsibilities Accurately enter and review charges from provider documentation Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances Verify insurance coverage and patient financial responsibility Process payments and issue receipts Address patient billing questions and escalate complex issues Maintain accuracy in billing systems and documentation Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred) Prior experience in medical front desk, checkout, or billing required Knowledge of insurance verification, co-pays, and claims processes Experience with EMR systems (e.g., Athena, Epic, or similar) Strong attention to detail and accuracy Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a team environment Preferred Skills Medical coding or billing certification (CPC, CBCS, etc.) Experience in specialty practice environments Familiarity with revenue cycle workflows
