Job Description

Overview The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for submitting medical claims to attorney's offices. It is a position that is critical for the financial cycle of all health care providers, from single-provider practices through large medical centers Responsibilities Ensures all claims are submitted with a goal of zero errors with date of accident Ensures charges are posted daily Verifies completeness and accuracy of all claims prior to submission Accurately posts all insurance payments by line item Weekly detailed report of missing or incomplete reports for all providers Faxes Case Status Letters to Attorneys for all providers aged over 90 days from first date of service Makes necessary arrangements for medical records requests, completion of additional information requests, etc. as requested by law offices Responds to inquiries from law offices, patients and providers Regularly attends bi-weekly staff meetings and continuing educational sessions as requested Performs additional duties as requested by Supervisory or Management team Requirements High School or GED required Liens medical billing experience preferred but not required Excellent customer service skills Ability to manage relationships with various Insurance payers and law offices Computer experience is essential, including, but not limited to practice management software, word processing and spreadsheet applications Experience in CPT and ICD-9 coding; familiarity with medical terminology is a plus Perform to company standards of compliance with policies and procedures Standard Knowledge Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff and others contacted in the course of the work Ability to assume responsibility and exercise good judgment in making decisions within the scope of authority of the position Ability to think and work effectively under pressure and accurately complete tasks within established times Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to ensure high administrative and service quality Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance Ability to frequently stand or sit for long periods of time Ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Consistent and repetitive movement of fingers, hands and wrists Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds If you are ready to contribute your expertise as a Billing Specialist in our dynamic environment, we encourage you to apply.
