Billing Specialist Location:
In Person - New Hyde Park, NY •This position is Fully Onsite Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM•Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Billing Specialist to join our finance team at a Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA). This role is critical to ensure accurate and timely billing for Medicare and Medicaid services, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, and optimizing revenue cycle management. The ideal candidate will have expertise in home health billing, exceptional analytical skills, and a commitment to supporting the financial health of our organization while delivering quality care to patients. Key Responsibilities Prepare, review, and submit electronic claims for home health services to Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and commercial insurance payers. Ensure billing accuracy in accordance with CMS guidelines, payer contracts, and agency policies. Monitor and resolve claim denials, rejections, and payment discrepancies in a timely manner. Perform accounts receivable follow-up and collections activities to maintain healthy reimbursement cycles. Collaborate with clinical staff, case managers, and administrative teams to clarify documentation and verify service eligibility. Support internal and external audits by preparing and providing accurate billing documentation, records, and detailed explanations of billing procedures and reimbursement practices. Qualifications Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2-3 years of billing experience in a home health, hospice, or healthcare setting. Specialized knowledge of Medicare Part A and Part B billing, as well as Medicaid fee-for-service and managed care. Preferred Skills and Competencies Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy. Effective communication skills for interacting with payers and internal teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
