Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the complete billing process, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, and facilitating smooth financial operations within the medical office. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycles, improve patient satisfaction, and uphold the highest standards of medical billing and coding accuracy. Duties Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using CMS-1500, Paper and electronic medical record (EMR) and electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Review medical records and documentation to assign appropriate codes such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and ICD coding to facilitate precise billing. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, working closely with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies. Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits prior to service delivery to prevent claim rejections. Maintain comprehensive records of all billing activities, including claim submissions, adjustments, payments, and correspondence related to medical records. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation aligns with billing requirements and coding standards. Stay updated on industry regulations, coding changes, and payer policies to ensure ongoing compliance and optimize reimbursement processes. Qualifications Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding procedures, and billing workflows. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient data entry and claim processing. Knowledge of
ICD-10, CPT
coding systems, as well as DRG classifications for clinic and hospital billing. Ability to interpret medical records accurately for proper coding and billing purposes. Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously. Effective communication skills for liaising with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients. Prior experience in medical collection processes is preferred but not mandatory. Pay:
$21.00 - $26.00 per hour
