Job Description

Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Lead Accounts Specialist to join our patient billing team. Accounts Specialists are responsible for the timely collection of payments at the highest level of reimbursement allowed for the medical services provided. Job duties include reviewing claims, following up on unpaid claims, and accurately recording notes on actions taken. This position works closely with patients, insurance payors, and other outside entities. Professionalism and strong communications skills are essential for this position.
Qualifications and Experience:
High school diploma or GED Minimum of 2-3 years of medical billing experience is required Current knowledge of commercial and government insurance plans required Ability to meet deadlines and have strong organizational and time-management skills
Job Function and Responsibilities:
Support and mentor other accounts specialists and serve as content expert for billing team Process accounts receivable transactions, including making collection calls to patients with outstanding past due balances Process and post patient and insurance carrier credit card payments Maintain accurate records of accounts receivable and reconcile discrepancies Collaborate with the billing staff and supervisor to communicate reimbursement issues and claims denial patterns Follows collection guidelines and procedures for outstanding patient and insurance balances Submits timely, accurate, and complete corrected claims for appeals Optimizes available technology and software Stays current with any changes in medical billing and informs supervisor of carrier updates relevant to the role
