Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Dental Billing Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will manage the entire billing process for dental services, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, effective communication with insurance companies, and diligent follow-up on outstanding payments. Your expertise will help streamline revenue cycle management and enhance patient satisfaction by providing clear and efficient billing support. Responsibilities Prepare, review, and submit dental insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10. Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to treatment to facilitate smooth billing processes. Accurately assign Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) codes and other relevant medical codes to ensure proper reimbursement. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective communication with insurance providers and patients, utilizing medical collection techniques. Maintain detailed medical records and documentation related to billing activities, ensuring all records are complete, accurate, and compliant with healthcare regulations. Collaborate with dental staff to clarify treatment procedures and coding details for precise billing. Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations affecting dental billing practices. Requirements Proven experience in medical or dental billing with a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding practices. Familiarity with
DRG, CPT
coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and medical coding principles specific to dental procedures. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and record management. Knowledge of medical collection processes and effective follow-up strategies to resolve outstanding balances. Prior experience in a medical office setting or dental practice is highly preferred. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers.
