Prepare and submit claims electronically using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements. Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through effective medical collection strategies, resolving discrepancies promptly. Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits prior to billing to prevent delays. Maintain comprehensive medical records and ensure all billing information aligns with medical terminology and documentation standards. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures when necessary for accurate coding. Stay updated on changes in DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications, coding guidelines, and insurance policies to ensure compliance. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing with a solid understanding of medical coding practices including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG classifications. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and insurance claim processes. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and other relevant software used in medical billing operations. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex medical documents accurately. Familiarity with medical collection procedures and resolving billing discrepancies efficiently. Prior experience working in a medical office setting is preferred but not mandatory. Strong communication skills to coordinate with providers, insurance companies, and patients effectively.
