We're a small, collaborative team, and we're looking for an experienced Billing Coordinator to join us part-time. This could be a great fit for someone seeking steady part-time work or stepping back from full-time demands while continuing to use their skills in a supportive environment. About the Role This is a part-time W2 position, 15-20 hours per week. The Billing Coordinator is responsible for the health of our revenue cycle. You'll ensure clinical sessions are accurately documented and billed, payments are reconciled in a timely manner, and that both clinicians and clients feel well supported. You'll serve as a professional point of contact for clients and insurance carriers, and as a trusted partner to our clinical team. Required Experience This role requires prior behavioral health billing experience . Behavioral health experience includes outpatient mental health (group practice, solo, or community mental health, ABA, SUD, or hospital-based outpatient psychiatric billing.) At least 1 year of behavioral health billing experience required. Key Responsibilities Review session documentation in SimplePractice to verify CPT code accuracy before claim submission, and query clinicians when documentation doesn't support the code Submit electronic claims to commercial payers and MassHealth plans; track submission status through clearinghouse Process client copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances through SimplePractice; set up payment plans when appropriate Post insurance payments line-by-line from EOBs and 835s, reconcile against billed amounts, and identify underpayments against contracted rates Work denied and aging claims (60-120+ days) by calling payers, filing appeals, and tracking resolution Investigate eligibility and benefits issues via commercial payer and MassHealth provider portals when claims are denied or rejected Serve as the primary point of contact for client billing questions and insurance updates Host a weekly one-hour documentation co-working session for clinicians Collaborate with our intake coordinator on insurance verification and payer-specific requirements Attend quarterly in-person team events in Medford Qualifications Working knowledge of outpatient mental health CPT codes (90791, 90832/34/37, 90846/47), telehealth modifiers, and place of service codes Familiarity with commercial insurance payers and MassHealth plans (MBHP, Fallon, Wellsense, Tufts) Proficiency in SimplePractice strongly preferred; comparable EHRs considered High accuracy in data entry and financial reconciliation Ability to handle sensitive financial conversations with clients with warmth and professionalism Track record of handling protected health information and financial data with strict confidentiality and full HIPAA compliance
Pay:
$26.00 - $30.00 per hour
