Insurance Billing Specialist

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Insurance Billing Specialist to join our family-oriented mental health practice, Psychological & Behavioral Health. Our office is located in beautiful downtown Neenah and the environment is warm and welcoming! In this role, you will be responsible for managing the entire billing process for medical services, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, and facilitating smooth communication between providers, insurance companies, and patients. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycle management while maintaining compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring adherence to coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10. Review medical records and documentation to verify proper coding for diagnoses and procedures, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) assignments when applicable. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance companies and resolving discrepancies through detailed medical collections efforts. Maintain comprehensive records of billing activities, claim statuses, and patient account information in accordance with privacy regulations. Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure accurate entry of medical terminology and coding details for each patient encounter. Stay updated on industry changes related to ICD coding updates, CPT coding guidelines, and insurance policies to ensure ongoing compliance. Assist in training team members on new billing procedures or system updates related to medical billing, ICD coding, or EMR/EHR systems. Skills Strong knowledge of mental health terminology, medical records management, and the healthcare revenue cycle process. Proficiency in

coding Experience with EMR systems and EHR platforms for billing and documentation purposes. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with insurance providers, patients, and healthcare staff. Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in coding, documentation, and data entry tasks.
