Delaney Radiology is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Insurance Specialist to join our team!
Position Overview:
The Insurance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that radiologic services are billed accurately and in accordance with insurance guidelines. This role involves following up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims by contacting insurance companies, providing necessary documentation, and escalating issues when needed. Candidates are required to report to the office during the initial training period, but the position may become remote once training is complete. •Previous experience with claim denial follow-up is required.•
Key Responsibilities:
Initiate and complete appropriate actions for Insurance, Denials, Reviews, and other daily tasks to ensure timely follow-up on claims and issues. Work EEM in Availity daily and make the necessary corrections in Imagine. Contact insurance payers via phone or online inquiries regarding unpaid or denied claims Report ongoing payer issues and significant concerns to your Team Lead for further action. Utilize online resources to verify eligibility and check claim status before filing or rebilling. Write and submit appeals for denied claims, including providing the necessary supporting documentation, and ensure that the appeal is appropriately scanned to the patient's account. Answer phone inquiries from patients and insurance companies regarding bills, charges, and account status Resolve issues that delay timely claim payments, including requests for medical records. Ensure compliance with all contracted insurance policies and payer guidelines, including reviewing explanations of benefits (EOBs) and ensuring claims are processed in accordance with contract terms. Stay updated on changes in payer policies, time limits, fee schedules, and other relevant information by regularly reviewing insurance websites, newsletters, and communications. Review refund letters as assigned. Perform additional assigned duties as needed.
Position Requirements:
A minimum of 1 year of experience in medical billing is required, with a preference for experience in radiology. Experience with Imagine Software is highly preferred. The ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume billing office. Knowledge of HIPAA, medical terminology, and medical insurance required. Must possess strong communication skills, empathy, and patience Attention to detail and accuracy are essential, along with a commitment to confidentiality.
