This role is responsible for submitting claims, verifying insurance coverage, posting payments, resolving billing discrepancies, and following up on unpaid or denied claims. The specialist will ensure accurate coding and compliance with payer guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and organizational policies. Billing Specialist must be located in Arizona and can work remote.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and submit medical and behavioral health insurance claims Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits Process payments, denials, and claim corrections Follow up with insurance companies regarding outstanding claims Maintain accurate patient billing records and documentation Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicaid/Medicare, and commercial payer requirements Communicate professionally with patients, providers, and insurance representatives
Qualifications:
Experience in medical billing is a must-have; behavioral health billing experience preferred but not required Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding Familiarity with EHR/EMR and billing software like Athenahealth preferred Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
