This is a permanent, part-time remote position offering flexibility in scheduling and opportunities for professional growth. The ideal candidate will be organized, comfortable working independently, and committed to providing excellent service to both clients and providers. The Mental Health Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing various aspects of the billing process, including claim submission, payment posting, denial management, account follow-up, client balance collections, and administrative support. Previous billing experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates strong attention to detail, communication skills, and a willingness to learn. Schedule & Work Environment Hybrid remote/work-from-home position Company-provided laptop Approximately 15-20 hours per week Flexible daily schedule Permanent W-2 position with opportunities for increased responsibilities and growth Essential Responsibilities Submit and monitor insurance claims for mental health therapy services Research and resolve claim denials and insurance payment discrepancies Follow up with insurance companies regarding outstanding claims and reimbursement issues Post insurance and client payments accurately Maintain accurate billing records and documentation Manage client account balances and assist with payment collection efforts Communicate professionally with clients regarding balances, payments, insurance questions, and scheduling needs Perform data entry and maintain accurate records within the electronic health record (EHR) system Utilize spreadsheets and reporting tools to track billing activities and account status Ensure compliance with billing procedures, privacy regulations, and company policies Benefit verification Assist with other administrative duties as needed Employment Requirements Successful completion of a criminal and child/dependent adult abuse background check is required as a condition of employment. Must be eligible to work in the United States. Must maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy and security requirements related to protected health information including HIPAA. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Experience in medical billing is not a requirement but is preferred.
