Review medical records to ensure proper documentation aligns with billing requirements and coding accuracy. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective communication with insurance companies and patients to facilitate prompt resolution. Maintain comprehensive medical records, including detailed notes on billing activities, adjustments, and collections. Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to accurately input data, generate reports, and track billing statuses. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures that require precise coding for reimbursement purposes. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and billing policies to protect patient information and uphold ethical standards. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical coding practices including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and medical office workflows to streamline billing processes. Knowledge of medical collection procedures and effective strategies for recovering outstanding balances. Prior experience in a healthcare setting involving medical records management and insurance claim processing. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask efficiently under deadlines. Strong communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients regarding billing inquiries or issues.
