Certified Billing and Coding Specialist

Responsibilities Review and interpret medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes for billing purposes Ensure accurate coding of diagnoses, procedures, and services using

ICD-9/ICD-10

coding systems while maintaining compliance with industry standards Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through medical collections processes to optimize revenue recovery Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to billing Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation supports coded diagnoses and procedures Stay current with updates in medical coding guidelines, insurance policies, and regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance Experience Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting, preferably with familiarity in hospital or outpatient environments Strong knowledge of

ICD-9/ICD-10
