Attention to detail Full Job Description Join our team at Johnson Curran Optometry Centers! We are seeking enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to fill RCM Specialist role in Roanoke. We are seeking a detail-oriented RCM Specialist to join our billing and collections team. This role is responsible for managing insurance claims, following up on outstanding receivables, resolving payment issues, collections, and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance carriers. The ideal candidate will have experience in optometric or medical billing and collections, a strong understanding of insurance processes, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and follow up on outstanding insurance and patient account receivable. Submit corrected claims and appeals as necessary to ensure accurate reimbursement. Research and resolve claim denials, rejections, and short payments. Communicate with insurance companies to track claim status and resolve issues. Assist in billing insurance, as needed. Post insurance/patient payments and adjustments accurately to patient accounts. Collections-sending patient statements, submitting balances to collection agencies (as needed) and processing related payments. Work collaboratively with billing team members and clinical staff to ensure proper documentation and coding including prebilling auditing. Maintain up to date knowledge of insurance regulations and billing policies. Meet productivity and aging goals as set by the department. Support the team by fulfilling other tasks or duties, as required.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required. 1-3 years of experience in medical insurance billing and collections. Knowledge of EOBs, CPT/ICD 10 Coding, and standard forms (e.g.
UB-04, CMS-1500
). Proficiency with medical billing software and electronic health records. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Compulink Eyecare EHR, Waystar and Availity. Prior experience in a multi-specialty or ophthalmic billing environment
