RACINE COUNTY CONTRACTED POSITION
Billing Clerk - Typist Behavioral Health Services Human Services Basic Function To assist in BHS billing functions and clerical duties. This includes interacting with the outsourced billing provider and BHS consumers, transcribing provider dictations, running reports, and providing support to the BHS front desk. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Assist in BHS Billing functions which includes: verifying patient's insurance, adding copays and patient payment responsibility to appointments, TCM related roll up services for CSP, CCS, Crisis, Case Management, and any other services delivered by BHS. 2. Follow up consumers about insurance status, past due patient accounts, and other billing questions and concerns. 3. Oversee the changes in electronic chart (TCM) relating to demographic changes and insurance coverage. 4. Enter required notes into TCM. 5. Fulfill medical records requests and documentation within the required deadlines. 6. Operate word processing programs. 7. Transcribe dictations, including: intakes, psychological evaluations, doctor notes, letters, memos, narratives, miscellaneous and other written documentation. 8. Store, retrieve and update documents. 9. Meet deadlines. 10. Create template letters and forms. 11. Backup BHS reception desk as needed. 12. Other duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event. Supervision Received Receives supervision from the Deputy Administrator of BHS. Additionally receives support from the Administrator of Aging & Disability and the Clinic Manager. Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Type 50 net w.p.m. with 95% accuracy.
- Two (2) years of responsible office experience.
- Experience in transcribing.
- Prompt and regular attendance. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent grammar and spelling skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to work independently and be a team worker.
- Ability to deal with sensitive and highly confidential information.
- Ability to type under pressure to meet a designated deadline.
- Skill in organizing and prioritizing work.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and in writing with staff, agencies, and the general public.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds and walk up and down stairs.
