Performs billing functions in accordance with billing standards set forth in CCHS Billing and Collections Policy, with insurance regulations and coding guidelines. Responsible for the revenue health and oversight of all aspects of billing and collections for a subset of assigned providers determined by department or specialty. Ensures accuracy and timeliness of patient billing as assigned. Analyzes and resolves issues and problem accounts by researching information regarding department reimbursement. Provides feedback to staff concerning billing procedures and practices. Maintains strong understanding of billing regulations of third party payors and state and federal agencies. Core Duties and Responsibilities, which include the following and other duties as assigned: ? Monitor Dental Accounts Receivable and address problems as identified. ? Post dental payments for third party payors. ? Monitoring, researching, writing appeals, contacting payers and providers as needed, and all other activities that lead to the successful adjudication of eligible claims. ? Monitor third party payor and patient aging reports. ? Assist Dental Staff with patient accounts, third party payor denials, resolving any patient account questions in regards to payments, account balances, or denials. ? Assists with credentialing and recredentialing applications as needed. ? Ability to assist patients with a high level of customer service in their questions regarding balance origination, resolution, payment plans, and application for assistance. Ability to research EOBs, print statements, or prepare ad-hoc documentation to address balance collection challenges. ? Provides patient financial counseling and enrollment assistance for patient assistance programs ? Complete system knowledge ability to run reports, worklists, research and resolve issues as assigned. ? Creation of and monitoring of payment plans in compliance with CCCHS policies and procedures. ? Adjustments to bad debt versus collection, adjustment for other reasons as approved. ? Maintains and enhances current knowledge of billing and coding practices and procedures through attendance at meetings and seminars, study of conference materials and updates to coding manuals. ? Provides information and training to providers and staff regarding coding procedures and policy and changes industry and payor guidelines. ? Manage refund worklist for insurance and patients ensuring timely processing. ? Serves as a backup in front office at dental sites. Qualifications -Skills and Abilities:
To perform the Billing Analyst role successfully, the Billing Analyst must demonstrate core competencies in the following areas: ? Basic keyboarding and PC skills, Windows skills including WORD and EXCEL ? Use of printers, copiers and fax equipment ? Navigation of a Windows based electronic health record and/or practice management system ? Good communication skills for staff and patients contacts ? High attention to detail required ? Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology required. ? Working knowledge of federal and state laws and third party payor guidelines pertaining to coding and billing required. ? Good critical thinking and problem solving skills ? Ability to organize and prioritize throughout monthly billing cycle ? Ability to react calmly and effectively during peak demand periods ? Ability to learn advanced training objectives as defined by CCHS ? Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as a team with your co-workersEducation and Experience:
? High School Graduate ? Certification as Certified Procedural Coder preferred. ? Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology required. ? Working knowledge of federal and state laws and third party payor guidelines pertaining to coding and billing required.Certificates, License, Registration:
? National Certification preferred, not required. ? Physical/Environmental ? Ability to interact with computer screen for up to six hours at a time (visual acuity required). ? Must have manual dexterity for use of keyboard. Ability to remain stationary for periods of up to four hours. Ability to communicate via phone, mail and in person to resolve disputes, solve problems, etc. ? Cognitive skills to analyze, calculate, problem solve issues related to invoices, billing, and other relevant matters associated with the invoicing and billing processes. ?
