Medical Billing Specialist

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our growing team. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate coding and timely submission of claims. This role requires a strong commitment to accuracy, coding practices, and the ability to stay focused and self-paced. Duties Review and verify patient information and insurance coverage for accuracy. Perform medical billing duties utilizing Athena EMR software. Utilize CPT coding and ICD-10 codes to ensure proper billing. Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and conducting medical collections as necessary. Collaborate with management to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure timely payments. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related field. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems (ICD coding, CPT coding). Experience with Athena software preferred, but not required. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, management and insurance representatives.
