Centralia College is on a 30-acre campus of modern buildings set among walking paths, lawns, and native plantings just a few blocks from the heart of Centralia, Washington. Job Description Under general direction of the Director of Auxiliary Services, this position supervises bookstore operations and personnel, including ordering, receiving, sales, inventory management, cash control, visual merchandising, marketing and customer service activities; additionally, this position oversees the course material adoption/ordering cycle and acts with authority in the absence of the director. This role may require working extended hours, including weekends and evenings, to ensure sufficient coverage of store and satellite locations. Duties and Responsibilities Bookstore Supervisory Duties (50%) With delegated authority, interview and recommend selection of applications, train new employees, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action. Supervise customer service, ensuring effective problem resolution, timely order fulfillment, and positive customer experiences; foster and establish a positive, collaborative and efficient work environment. Supervise and evaluate the sourcing, receiving, pricing and stocking of general merchandise; review financial statements and advise the director on purchases, expenses, and management of inventory. Establish and update policies and procedures for bookstore operations. Oversee visual merchandising; design and maintain visually engaging displays that enhance customer experience, promote products and supports sales goals. Lead marketing initiatives, manage social media accounts, ensuring regular content. Follow inventory schedules, assist with annual inventory, maintain accurate inventory records, investigate discrepancies and report concerns/changes to director. Ensure adequate security of facilities, stock and cash in department; act with authority in the absence of director. Performs related duties as required. Course Materials Cycle Duties (40%) Coordinate timely course material adoption collection; verify, approve, and post materials and pricing in compliance with federal, state, and college requirements. Oversee Day 1 Digital Access (D1DA) Inclusive Access program; link online materials with courses, coordinate with faculty, ensure accurate billing, information, and pricing through collaboration with departments, publishers, and vendors. Serve as the primary liaison to faculty, publishers, and vendors; research editions/formats, advise on options, and promote program and bookstore initiatives. Direct the sourcing, receiving, pricing, stocking of course materials; analyze inventory and course history, set competitive pricing, evaluate vendors and purchasing strategies to meet profit margin/goals, and ensure timely returns. Coordinate in-house print operations; print course packets, set production schedules, maintain print supply inventory and order equipment and supplies as needed. Oversee rental and buyback program, set pricing/quantities, ensure accurate information in bookstore system, coordinate with wholesalers on inventory and pricing and complete program closeouts on schedule. Auxiliary Services Support Staff (10%) Create requisitions and intra-districts, reconcile department p-card(s), submit invoices for payment and maintain accurate records; may order supplies as needed. Maintain accurate accounts receivable records and collaborate with agencies/departments to confirm account details and balances. Follow opening and closing store procedures; complete deposits and create balance sheets and promptly resolve discrepancies. Qualifications High school diploma or GED certificate AND two years of experience in retail sales. Full-time, college-level coursework with major study in retail merchandising, business, accounting, or marketing may be substituted year-for-year for required work experience. Conditions of Employment This is a 40 hours per week, 12-month position. Classified employees are represented by the Washington State Federation of State Employees (WFSE).
