Houston, Texas About:
We are partnering with a leading healthcare services organization based in Houston to hire a Collections Manager. This is a direct hire opportunity and an excellent role for an experienced healthcare collections professional-specifically with strong expertise in No Surprises Act (NSA) compliance and out-of-network collections-to lead a high-performing team and make a measurable impact on revenue cycle operations. The Collections Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the collections team within a healthcare revenue cycle environment. This role involves direct communication with providers via phone, email, and in person, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and payer guidelines. The manager will lead, coach, and develop staff while driving performance, improving processes, and maximizing reimbursement outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or management experience At least 7 years of experience in healthcare collections (hospital and physician) Strong experience with out-of-network collections Knowledge of the No Surprises Act (NSA) Comprehensive understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, private pay, commercial insurance, and third-party reimbursement Proven leadership and team management skills
Schedule and Compensation:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM•5:00 PM (Onsite) Salary range: $70,000•$85,000 annually
Key Responsibilities:
Direct, supervise, and evaluate the performance of medical collections staff, including remote team members Conduct regular employee performance reviews (monthly, quarterly, and annually) Hold team members accountable for achieving established goals, KPIs, and productivity standards Monitor payer activity to ensure claims are billed accurately and reimbursed in a timely manner Identify and address issues that may lead to delays or write-offs, implementing corrective actions as needed Manage accounts receivable (AR) inquiries, including billed, unbilled, and held claims Maintain consistent communication with payers and internal stakeholders regarding claim status and resolution Stay current on payer requirements and implement process improvements to ensure compliance Lead coaching, mentoring, and training initiatives to support team development and performance improvement Develop and implement reporting tools, policies, and standard operating procedures to enhance operational efficiency Analyze billing and collections data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to leadership Collaborate with revenue cycle leadership to establish and refine productivity benchmarks and performance metrics Enforce company policies, including attendance, dress code, and telecommuting standards Support onboarding and training of new hires in partnership with leadership and HR Foster a collaborative team environment focused on maximizing cash collections and operational success Perform additional duties as assigned
