We are seeking a highly skilled Level III Collector / Accounts Receivable Specialist with experience in Texas medical billing and collections to join our team.
Job Summary:
The Level III Collector / Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for managing complex and high-balance accounts, ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for services rendered. This role requires a deep knowledge of cardiology billing or other applicable knowledge. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in appeals and denials, and a proactive approach to resolving outstanding balances. Experience with eClinicalWorks preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Collections & Follow-Up:
Manage high-level accounts receivable, follow up on unpaid claims, and resolve outstanding balances with insurance companies and patients. Diligently pursue outstanding insurance claims by contacting carriers through phone calls, emails, or online portals to ensure timely payment. Identify accounts requiring escalation due to non-payment or complex issues and collaborate with management or internal teams to resolve them effectively. Ensure all collection activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies to maintain ethical standards and avoid legal complications.
Denials & Appeals:
Analyze claim denials, file timely appeals, and communicate with payers to secure proper reimbursement. Identify and correct errors in denied or rejected claims and promptly resubmit them with necessary documentation to facilitate reimbursement. Analyze reasons for claim denials, prepare and submit appeals or reconsideration letters, and follow up with insurance companies to overturn denials. Maintain detailed and accurate records of all collection activities, including communications with insurance companies and actions taken on each account.
Insurance Correspondence:
Respond promptly to inquiries and requests from insurance carriers, providing additional information or documentation as needed to expedite claim processing.
Patient Account Resolution:
Communicate with patients regarding outstanding balances, set up payment plans, and provide excellent customer service while ensuring adherence to state and federal laws.
Texas-Specific Compliance:
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Texas medical billing regulations, Medicare Part B guidelines, Medicaid, and commercial insurance policies.
Reporting & Analysis:
Generate and analyze A/R reports, identify trends in denials and rejections, and implement strategies to improve collections.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the billing department, providers, and administrative team to optimize revenue cycle efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience in medical billing and collections, specifically in cardiology, vascular, imaging, testing or podiatry. Strong understanding of Texas insurance regulations, Medicare Part B, Medicaid, and commercial payer policies. Proficiency in EHR/PM systems (eClinicalWorks preferred). Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding, with the ability to interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs). Experience with denials management, appeals, payer negotiations, and Medicare Part B claim processing. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High level of professionalism and ability to handle sensitive patient financial information.
