In this role, you will provide administrative support for MSPB operations by supporting day-to-day office needs and appeal processing activities. RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive incoming telephone calls and visitors, determine the nature of business, and refer calls to appropriate staff Assist with receipt and distribution of incoming agency mail Create, tab, organize, and maintain paper files, indexes, and related documents Perform data entry and typing using a personal computer Operate standard office equipment, including computers, fax machines, copy machines, mail equipment, and scanners Communicate with court reporters and external customers to schedule telephone conferences and hearings Coordinate scheduling support for in-person and video hearings Initiate inquiries regarding case processing, as directed Respond to appeal-related inquiries on behalf of the Administrative Judge, as directed Support public-facing communication with appellants, representatives, and other external customers regarding potential, pending, and past appeals, as directed Explain general Board procedures at the direction of the Supervisory Paralegal Specialist
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the legal field Strong verbal communication and customer service skills Ability to interact professionally with callers, visitors, appellants, representatives, and external customers Ability to organize paper files, indexes, mail, and case-related documents accurately Ability to perform data entry, typing, scanning, copying, and related clerical tasks Ability to follow direction, maintain confidentiality, and support legal/administrative office procedures
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE 2-4
years of experience in the administrative field or in a related legal assistant area
EDUCATION
Highschool diploma or equivalent required Undergraduate degree preferred
