Health insurance included Overview Spectrum Data supports direct mail campaigns by preparing high-accuracy mailing and production files. We are hiring a Production Technician who is strong in Microsoft Excel and enjoys detailed quality control. You will review spreadsheets, validate counts and totals, and convert incoming data into standardized formats (CSV, tab-delimited, flat files) used for production workflows. Why This Role Matters This role is focused on preventing errors before data files are released to the printer. If you like working with numbers, spreadsheets, and repeatable processes—and you naturally double-check your work—you will do well here. Key Responsibilities (Data Quality & Production)
  • Review Excel spreadsheets and production work orders to confirm required outputs and business rules
  • Convert and standardize incoming customer and production data (CSV, tab-delimited, flat files)
  • Perform spreadsheet-based
QA:
record counts, totals, duplicates, missing fields, formatting inconsistencies
  • Identify potential errors and anomalies (numeric outliers, mismatched totals, invalid ZIP/state formats)
  • Create and maintain Excel-based QA/production reports and documentation
  • Work within established workflows for data hygiene, standardization, and deduplication using specialized tools
  • Communicate clearly with the team when issues are found and help verify resolutions Required Skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills (filters, sorting, tables, formulas, vlookup)
  • Comfort working with spreadsheets and reviewing detailed numeric data
  • High attention to detail; ability to spot inconsistencies and errors quickly
  • Basic understanding of data formats (CSV, tab-delimited, flat files)
  • Ability to follow step-by-step procedures and document what you did
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work in-office
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple production jobs, QA reviews, and work orders in a fast-paced, deadline-driven direct mail environment Excel Skills We Use
  • Lookups (XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP) and matching data between sheets
  • Conditional formatting to flag errors or outliers
  • COUNTIF/COUNTIFS, SUMIF/SUMIFS, and basic IF statements
  • Validating record counts
  • PivotTables (helpful; can be learned if you have strong fundamentals) Nice to Have (Not Required)
  • Prior experience in data processing, quality assurance, operations, or production support
  • Direct mail, print production, or mailing list experience
  • Power Query or basic SQL exposure
  • Experience interpreting work orders or production instructions Screening (Excel Assessment Required) To help ensure a strong fit, candidates will be asked Excel-based questions during the interview and will complete a brief Excel skills assessment focused on data validation and error detection.
