In this hands-on role, you will operate robotic grippers, robot arms, and teleoperation interfaces to collect high-quality demonstration data for robot learning systems. You will work directly with robotics engineers to perform structured manipulation tasks such as grasping, moving, sorting, placing, stacking, staging, and resetting objects. The data you collect will help train and improve robotic systems designed to perform real-world physical work in complex operational environments. This is a temporary, paid, on-site position ideal for someone with strong hand-eye coordination, comfort using controllers or technical interfaces, and interest in robotics, AI, automation, robot learning, or physical AI. Prior robot teleoperation experience is a strong plus, but we are also open to candidates with relevant experience in robotics labs, drones, VR/game controllers, simulators, AV data collection, QA testing, field robotics, manufacturing, warehouse operations, or hands-on technical operations. This is not a software engineering role. It is a robot operations and data collection role for someone who enjoys precise, repetitive, hands-on work with real robotic systems. Duties Operate robotic grippers, robot arms, or teleoperation interfaces during structured data collection sessions. Use handheld controls, joysticks, game controllers, VR-style interfaces, cameras, monitors, or other human-machine interfaces to control robotic systems. Perform repeated manipulation tasks such as grasping, moving, sorting, placing, stacking, staging, and resetting objects. Collect clean, consistent, high-quality demonstration data for robot learning and model training. Follow engineer-defined task scripts, safety procedures, and data collection protocols. Maintain smooth, repeatable movements during teleoperation sessions to support high-quality training data. Work directly with robotics engineers during setup, calibration, testing, debugging, and data collection. Monitor robot behavior and report failed grasps, awkward motions, bugs, edge cases, interface issues, or unexpected system behavior. Provide feedback on the teleoperation interface, task difficulty, robot behavior, and data collection process. Follow all safety, PPE, confidentiality, and site-access requirements. Work professionally in a lab, office, or customer-site environment. Stop immediately when instructed by engineers or site staff. Do not take personal photos, videos, or recordings around confidential systems or customer sites. Qualifications Strong hand-eye coordination and comfort using controllers, joysticks, VR systems, simulators, robotic interfaces, or other precision control tools. Ability to perform repetitive hand-control or teleoperation tasks for multi-hour sessions with scheduled breaks. High attention to detail and ability to follow protocols exactly. Comfort working around robotics hardware, moving equipment, cameras, sensors, grippers, and robot arms. Clear communication skills and ability to report technical observations accurately. Reliable, safety-conscious, and calm in a live robot testing environment. Interest in robotics, AI, automation, robot learning, physical AI, or human-in-the-loop data collection. Ability to work on-site in the Boston/Cambridge area. Prior experience with robot teleoperation, robotics labs, drones, VR/game-controller interfaces, simulators, autonomous vehicle data collection, QA testing, field robotics, mechatronics, manufacturing, warehouse operations, or technical operations is a plus. Experience with robot arms, grippers, ROS, Python, Linux, cameras, calibration, or hardware debugging is a plus, but not required. Experience collecting data for machine learning, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, or robotics datasets is a plus. Experience in commercial kitchens, dish handling, warehouse sorting, assembly, fulfillment, or other high-throughput physical environments is a plus, but not required. Bachelor's degree, associate degree, technical training, robotics club experience, lab experience, or equivalent hands-on experience is preferred but not required.
